The History of Olenn & Penza, LLP
Established over thirty years ago, Olenn & Penza, LLP has grown into the largest litigation firm in Kent County and among the top 20 largest in Rhode Island.
Founding partners Renn Olenn and Joe Penza met during law school at Boston University and quickly learned that they shared the same values, high standards and the goal of establishing their own litigation firm. They began to practice together in 1975 and by the early 1980s the first Olenn & Penza associate was hired. Now partners, Michael J. Colucci joined the firm in 1985 and Holly R. Rao in 1988, followed by Michael T. Prew in 1994 and Martin K. DeMagistris in 2002.
The firm's growth is due in part to delivering the same personalized service that comes from responsiveness, preparation and adaptability which enabled the firm to expand its practice areas. From the early days of handling insurance defense cases and police matters, the firm has expanded its practice areas to include complex litigation matters for several major insurance companies; police, fire and other labor; admiralty and maritime; business transactions and litigation; construction; personal injury; probate and estates; professional liability and real estate.
